There is nothing to buy on this page and no way to pay for anything. It is here so the terms of the paid tier are public before it is built, rather than written to suit us later. Hold me to them.

Zippabout Plus

£1.99 a month, or £15 a year. VAT included, one price, no launch rate that climbs later.

Why publish the terms this early

Nearly every tool that ended up squeezing its users started out generous. The squeeze arrives later, gradually, and never in a version of the terms you were shown at the beginning. Writing the promises down first, in public, while there is no revenue to protect, is the only version of this that is worth anything. If a future version of Zippaboutbreaks one of the rules below, you have the receipt.

What it would add

Only things built on the data you have already logged. Nothing that works by taking something away from the free version.

  • Your job log synced across your phone, tablet and laptop.
  • Patterns from your own logged jobs: your best hours, your best areas, which kinds of job clear your floor.
  • A weekly trend, so you can see whether your real rate is drifting.

What stays free, permanently

  • Checking a job. That is the whole point of Zippabout and it stays free.
  • Your cost per mile, your floor, your job log, your weekly summary.
  • Exporting everything you have, on any tier, at any time.

The terms

  • One price, VAT included. No introductory rate that jumps later.
  • The free version never gets worse to make Plus look better.
  • Cancel in one click. No phone call, no retention offers, no maze.
  • Full export of everything, always, including after you cancel.
  • No ads and no selling your data. Not on the free tier, not on Plus.

Why it is parked

Sync needs a server, and a server means holding a record of what you earned, job by job. That is sensitive: it is your income, and in some cases it would be evidence in a dispute with a platform. Standing that up casually would be the exact carelessness this whole project is a reaction to. So it waits until it can be done properly, with a considered decision about where the data sits and who can reach it, rather than being bolted on because a subscription would be nice.

Until then, the honest stopgap already ships and costs nothing: export your data to a file and import it on your other device. It is manual, and it works, and nobody but you ever touches the file.

What I will not do to sell this

  • Cap the free job log to make sync feel necessary.
  • Put a rate behind the paywall, or round the free one down.
  • Nag. No upgrade prompts wedged into the middle of the calculator.
  • Use your logged earnings for anything except showing them back to you.
  • Take advertising, or an affiliate deal that is not plainly on your side.
