GDPR and your rights
In force from 29 July 2026. This is the longer, more formal companion to the privacy page. It exists because you are entitled to know exactly where you stand, in the language the law uses.
The short version: Zippabout holds no personal data about you on any server, so there is nothing for us to hand over, correct, or delete. That is not a policy that could be reversed later. It is how the thing is built.
Who the controller is
Sotiris Spyrou, is the data controller for this site, in England and Wales. Contact: hello@zippabout.com. A postal address is available on request. There is no Data Protection Officer, because the scale and nature of the processing here does not require one.
What is processed, and where
| Data | Where it lives | Basis |
|---|---|---|
| Your cost per mile, hourly floor, vehicle type | Your own browser, on your own device | Not processed by us. Never transmitted. |
| Your job log and history | Your own browser, on your own device | Not processed by us. Never transmitted. |
| Aggregate page counts | Vercel Web Analytics | Legitimate interests. Cookieless, no identifiers, cannot single you out. |
| Standard server logs from serving the page | Vercel, our hosting provider | Legitimate interests, for security and keeping the site up. |
There is no account, no sign-up, no email list, no advertising network, no profiling and no automated decision-making about you. Nothing you enter is sold, shared or transferred, because it never reaches us in the first place.
Why data on your device is not us processing it
Everything the calculator saves goes into your browser's local storage. It stays on the device and is readable only by this site in your own browser. We cannot see it, cannot retrieve it and hold no copy. In data protection terms, you are the only party with access.
Cookies
Zippabout sets no cookies. Local storage is used to remember your settings between visits, which is strictly necessary for a calculator that would otherwise forget your cost per mile every time you opened it. Because that is functional and stays on your device, there is no consent banner to click past. If Google Analytics is ever added it will sit behind an explicit opt-in, off by default, as UK PECR requires. It is not switched on today.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR you have the rights below. Each one is listed with what it actually means here.
- Access. You already have complete access. Use the export button in the app and you get every byte the product holds about you, as a plain JSON file. That is faster than any request to us, and it is the whole dataset.
- Rectification. Edit any figure in the app. It is your data on your device.
- Erasure.Use "Clear all" in the app, or clear this site's data in your browser settings. It is gone at that point, with no copy anywhere else.
- Portability. The export is JSON, an open format, and the import button reads it back. Move it to another device whenever you like.
- Objection and restriction. You can object to the aggregate analytics. A browser-level tracker blocker will stop them, and nothing about the calculator breaks if you do.
- Withdrawing consent. Nothing here runs on your consent today, because the only optional thing is not switched on.
To exercise any of these against us rather than in the app, email hello@zippabout.com. You will get a reply within one month, which is the statutory deadline. Expect the honest answer for most requests to be that we hold nothing to give you.
How long anything is kept
Your data stays on your device until you delete it. Aggregate analytics are retained by the provider on their own schedule and are not tied to you. Server logs are short-lived and kept only for security and reliability.
Transfers outside the UK
Our hosting and analytics provider operates globally, so the request that serves you this page may be handled outside the UK, under the safeguards in their own data processing terms. Your job history is not part of that, because it never leaves your device.
Children
The tool is aimed at working adults. It is not directed at children and collects nothing from anybody.
